| GREEN |
The green flag
means "GO" which tells the drivers that the race is |
|
officially started. OR that the race is
officially starting again. |
|
|
| YELLOW |
The yellow flag means "CAUTION" which
means slow down, the |
|
track
is not safe. The yellow flag can be shown for a couple |
|
reasons. It could be because of an accident and
the track is not |
|
clear or safe
ahead. Or that there is debris on the track, which |
|
again means it is not safe to continue racing. |
|
|
| RED |
This flag means "STOP". When the red
flag is showed.. This means |
|
stop your car "now". The red flag
means the track is blocked and |
|
there is no way you can continue. OR that there
has been a severe |
|
accident and the emergency equipment has to
enter the track ASAP. |
|
|
| BLUE WITH |
The blue flag with the diagonal stripe means
"MOVE OVER". |
| DIAGONAL |
This flag is shown to a driver/car that is a lap
or more down to the |
| STRIPES |
leaders.
When a driver is shown this flag, he is to move to the |
| (Passing Flag) |
inside
of the track, out of the way of the leaders coming up |
|
behind him. |
|
|
| BLACK |
The
black flag means "GET OFF THE TRACK". This flag can be |
| (Consultation
Flag) |
shown for a couple reasons. Usually because the
car is a hazard |
|
|
to
other drivers/track because it is leaking fluid. Or a part from
the |
|
car
may be loose and ready to fall off or cause a hazard to |
|
another
car. This flag will be shown TWICE. If a driver does not |
|
comply, he will be disqualified from the race. |
|
|
| CROSSED FLAGS |
The
crossed flag is shown with the WHITE & GREEN flags. This |
|
is to inform the drivers they have reached the
"HALFWAY" point |
|
of the race. |
|
|
| THE HAND |
The flagman's hand with fingers spread apart
widely, means |
|
"5 LAPS TO GO" |
|
|
| 2
STRAIGHT |
The
flagman will show the WHITE & GREEN flags next to each |
| FLAGS |
other,
in a upwards position, letting the drivers know there is |
|
"2 LAPS TO GO" |
|
|
| CHECKERED |
THE RACE IS OVER. |
| FLAG |
|
|
|
| YELLOW & |
These
flags are shown on the last lap. IF the leaders are in turn |
| CHECKERED |
3 or 4 and there has been an accident in the
back of the field. This |
|
is to let the drivers know, the race is over BUT
be careful because |
|
the track is blocked ahead. |
